- It can also cause low levels of calcium in the blood and pain in the mouth or jaw.
- These are serious side effects and need urgent medical attention. Tell your doctor straight away.

Corticosteroids such as prednisolone and melphalan.

- trouble absorbing minerals in your stomach or intestines (malabsorption syndrome)
- any problems with your mouth or teeth such as poor dental health, gum disease, or a planned tooth extraction
- Are a smoker (as this may increase the risk of dental problems)
